In Brighton and Hove, GPs, primary care clinicians, allied health professionals, secondary care trainees and students are now using the Map of Medicine:

  • an online patient pathway tool to help make the referrals process simple and straightforward.

It has been agreed by BSUH and all other local stakeholders that the Map of Medicine is to be the sole way of communicating best clinical practice to our primary care colleagues.

We have now completed the formal rollout of Map of Medicine to primary care, and it is now widely being used by GPs in Brighton and Hove as a resource that informs their referrals practice.

Not only are national best practice national pathways available, local GPs have created a local Brighton and Hove section within Map of Medicine which contains:

  • easy-to-use comprehensive clinical services information,
  • referral criteria and referral forms,

This section will also contain local pathways as they are developed.

We need to ensure that the Map of Medicine contains the most up-to-date service information, in addition to new/revised referral guidelines/referral forms.

As services continue to update referral guidelines, forms and other information for GPs, please could all service providers communicate this via email to Charlotte D’Alessandro or Beth Cadman.

For any other queries, please email or telephone Beth Cadman 01273 545346.
