Community diabetes service wins award
Helping local diabetes patients take more control of their condition helped NHS Brighton and Hove to success in last month’s Best of Health Awards at the Grand Hotel winning ‘Excellence in Commissioning’ category.
Doing business with the NHS
On 16 July 2009 NHS Brighton and Hove is running a series of sessions for the organisations which may consider tendering to provide NHS services now or in the near future. The sessions focuson how we do business including what we want to procure, how we will run tendering, what contracts to manage NHS services will look like.
New mental health service for children and young people
The Children and Young People’s Trust and local NHS trusts have worked together to streamline children and young peoples mental health services. From September there will be one point of referral in Brighton and Hove.

NHS chief executive thanks staff
NHS chief executive David Nicholson thanked NHS staff for their hard work improving care for patients this year, including reducing healthcare associated infections and waiting times and extending GP opening hours.
Patients to be 'prescribed' information
From July to December this year Information Prescriptions, a collaboration between NHS Brighton and Hove and the city council, will be offered to health and social care service users through selected Lloyds Pharmacies and GPs,the Royal Sussex County Hospital,South Downs Health Trust, theDaily Living Centre, theHangleton and Knoll project and the Bridge Community Centre.

Swine flu - from containment to treatment
The latest local GP update is regularly emailed to all GPs.

In Brighton and Hove the number of swine flu cases is still relatively small but this shift is a significant pointer to the challenges that lie ahead of us in the coming months.
New anaesthetist
Dr Julia Ely will join Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust as consultant anaesthetist on Monday 6 July 2009.

The results of the GP Patient Survey run between January and April 2009 have now been published. You can view practice results in comparison to the results for the Primary Care Trust, Strategic Health Authority and at a national level.
