Macmillan palliative care team

The Macmillan Community Team supports people affected by advanced cancer and other life limiting illnesses. It focuses on quality of life and promotes living as fully as possible.

The team includes specialist nurses, doctors, integrated practitioners, a social worker and an occupational therapist.

It works in close partnership with health and social care professionals from the hospital, community and hospice settings. The team covers
Brighton and Hove and the coastal strip from Saltdean to Newhaven.

It is based at the Martlets Hospice in Hove.

The service includes:

  • assessment and management of physical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual needs
  • Pain relief and the control of other
    symptoms are part of the care.

The team supports relatives and carers and provides expert advice to other professionals.

Initial contact is by telephone and prior to arranging a visit.
